Our Wedding Reception
Two weeks ago, I celebrated my marriage with my husband Ken at the Crescent Club in Dallas. It was the most beautiful, emotional and overwhelming evening I have ever been a part of in my life. Not only did I have my mum, dad and aunt from Japan, France and Switzerland with us that night, some of my closest and dearest friends were also present to celebrate the love Ken and I have for each other.
In this post, I will be sharing the most beautiful moments captured by our photographer Jayare Tillman of Blink 300 Photography through photos and videos. From the beautiful venue to the table setting, without forgetting our gorgeous guests, I will show you everything.
Before showing you more photos of the reception, let me tell you how Ken and I crossed paths.
I met Ken in July 2014 in Hong Kong. Ken, originally from the United States, had been living in Hong Kong for already 3 years and was working as a Product Designer for a local manufacturer. I had just arrived in Hong Kong with a new job as a Business Development Manager for the French Consulate. Both being addicted to Instagram at that time (and still now...), we naturally started liking and commenting on each other's photos. I liked seeing Hong Kong through his eyes, and so did he. One night, we randomly ran into each other at a bar in the very busy neighborhood of Soho. A few days later, we decided to have dinner out together. And the rest, as we like to say, is history.
Last July, we decided to take the next step forward in our loving relationship, and intimately got married in Lee Park in the beautiful neighborhood of Turtle Creek in Dallas. We decided to organize our wedding reception the next year in order to give our friends and family, from around the world, enough time to make travel arrangements. It worked pretty well. Last Saturday, 8 countries and 6 US states formed our beautiful crowd: Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, France, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Canada and of course the United States (Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, Washington DC, New York, California). Our group of beautiful people truly represented who Ken and I are, as individuals, and as a couple: diversity, tolerance and respect.
“It was truly one of the most loving, precious, special, heartfelt evenings I have ever been a part of – a tribute to who you are as individuals as well as a couple.”
Michelle (a dear friend of ours)
“Love wins indeed. And if you were lucky enough to be a part of this night, you will never doubt that fact again.”
Kathy (Ken’s cousin)
The whole reception was filled with very emotional moments. From my husband’s speech, to my dear friend Belle’s performance of the French love song “La Vie En Rose” by Edith Piaf, I remember trying hard to contain my tears. I was also blown away, amazed and overwhelmed by all our friends and family who stood up to say a few loving words about us. I was not expecting that to happen, and I tried hard to keep it together. In vain. So, to everyone who contributed in making this night unforgettable, thank you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We love you.
“Now you’re on this new journey with François, and I loved François the minute I heard his name. I could not be more happy for both of you. So, from all your family, here in Texas and Oklahoma, we will always love you, you’re my brother. ”
Judy (one of Ken’s greatest friends)
In the following series of photos, Ken and I looked like we cried. Well, by the time these photos were taken, we actually had... A LOT! Sorry for the small red eyes! ;-D
After a wonderful dinner with friends and family, we all moved to the bar for some dance moves, more cocktails and of course laughter.
"A big thank you to my husband Ken for being amazing every day life has to offer. Thank you for making tonight happen. I love you. Truly. Deeply."
From me! ;-)
